Combined rating calculator

See how multiple ratings combine.

VA combined ratings use the “whole person” method rather than simple addition. Add your individual ratings to estimate the combined result.

Planning tool only. Includes 2026 basic compensation rates. It does not calculate the bilateral factor, special monthly compensation, TDIU, or every individual circumstance.
Estimated combined rating 70%

Unrounded value 65%

Estimated monthly compensation $1,808.45

Dependents affect basic compensation at combined ratings of 30% or higher.

Frequently asked questions

Start with the questions most veterans ask.

Every situation is different. These answers provide a starting point - not a determination about any individual claim.

What happens during the initial evaluation?

We learn about your service, the conditions affecting you, and your current claim status. The goal is to identify what information is available, what may be missing, and which next step deserves consideration.

Can anyone guarantee a VA disability rating?

No. VA reviews the evidence and makes the official decision. Be cautious of any person or company promising a particular rating or guaranteed outcome.

What information is useful for a claim review?

Common starting points include discharge documents, service treatment records, private or VA medical records, prior decision letters, and notes about how a condition affects daily life.

Why doesn’t the calculator simply add my ratings?

VA uses a “whole person” method. Each additional rating applies to the portion considered unaffected after earlier ratings, and the final value is rounded to the nearest 10%.

Is Veterans First Solutions part of VA?

No. Veterans First Solutions is an independent organization and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
